Putting fun in the summer's longest day
Wednesday evening festivities will include stilt walkers, samba dancers & life sized spin art
2013 Dallas Solstice Unveiling will take place at Life in Deep Ellum on Wednesday, June 20th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Today is going to be a really happy day according to Dawn Quiett, Lake Highlands resident and LH Today writer.
"Taking in account, activity, socializing, and weather, psychologist and mathematician Cliff Arnall calculates that June 20th will be the happiest day of the year."
So what's Dawn got up her sleeve in the way of celebrating the solstice?
She's part of a team that has launched the 2013 Dallas Solstice, and the fun begins tonight in Deep Ellum.
"Tonight we officially launch Dallas Solstice's events and fundraising, including details about the the newest and most original workshop, parade and festival that Dallas has ever experienced."
Festivities this evening will include stilt walkers, samba dancers, life sized spin art and much more.
Dawn says it's an official version of what folks can expect from the 2013 celebration.
"Dallas Solstice is a new art institution with art events for all ages, and many year-round events are planned leading up to the 2013 Dallas Solstice."
"Celebrating the longest day of the year and beginning of the Texas summer, the parade and festival will feature fabulous people-powered floats, magnificent masks, captivating costumes, and dazzling dancers and whatever else can come from your imagination."
"Dallas Solstice welcomes everyone!"
Tonight's Dallas Solstice Unveiling will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Life in Deep Ellum.
