
6 alarm apartment fire in North Lake Highlands
The fire started at approximately 11:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
Hundreds of Dallas firefighters battled the blaze until almost 5:00 p.m.
At last report, at least 20 apartment units had been destroyed with many other units likely affected by severe smoke damage.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, but witnesses on the scene say they believe a discarded cigarette is to blame.
Both Salvation Army Disaster Relief and the Red Cross are working to supply many of the displaced residents with immediate assistance.
