Cake Ball Company’s Deal of the Week
A sweet deal from the Cake Ball Company
This week, together with the Cake Ball Company, LH Today is bringing our readers a sweet deal.

Just in time for Homecoming, Cake Ball's talented trio worked to create a special edition cake ball complete with Lake Highlands Wildcat colors.

Adorned with red and black sprinkles, these birthday cake flavored cake balls are being offered for $1.50 each - this week only, beginning Tuesday, October 20th.

"We're excited to offer a discount on these special treats in honor of this week's Homecoming celebration," says Charlotte Lyon, partner at the Cake Ball Company.

"We all live here, are raising our families here," says Lyon. "It is important to us to support our community - just as they have supported us!"

The "us" she's referring to includes herself and her two business partners and friends, Robin Ankney and Debra Corley. All three Lake Highlands residents, these ladies have varied backgrounds yet common interests.

After meeting at their children's pre-school, Robin and Charlotte began discussing that all-to-familiar topic among moms: how to balance home life and professional endeavors.

In fact, it was professional backgrounds in art and graphic design that brought Debra, Cake Ball Company's third partner, into the endeavor.

From its beginnings in Robin's home - specifically her kitchen and dining room - the group made their way to Lake Highlands Baptist Church, where for 18 months the ladies provided the congregation with Wednesday night dinners in exchange for use of the church's kitchen.

"The church was really integral in helping grow our business to the next level," says Robin. "We are extremely grateful to them for the flexibility and support they showed our small business."

When the search began in 2008 for a bigger production facility, the trio naturally gravitated towards a Lake Highlands address.

"One of our goals was to always maintain a community feel," offers Debra. "After all, Lake Highlands truly is a small town in a big city."

Since opening their Northwest Highway location, many LH locals have now become regulars over at the new storefront.

Business is booming, and there's some exciting news to announce, too. Charlotte recently shared it with LH Today.

"The Cake Ball Company will be appearing on the Rachael Ray Show very soon," she says.

"We are so excited to have been selected for an appearance on the the show! We hope everyone will tune in when the segment airs!"

Watch LH Today for more details about the national airing, but in the meantime, head on over and pick-up your LHHS Homecoming cake balls this week!
