Weekend opening hosts friends & customers
Along with our readers, we were excited to learn that Dallas Bike Works was heading to Lake Highlands.
New business in our community is always a good thing, and the promise of a new bike shop in the neighborhood had everyone talking.
Following several months of renovation to the former night club space, owners Katy and Boyd Wallace had good reason to celebrate last week.
Although the newest location of Dallas Bike Works officially opened three weeks ago, they spent Friday, April 23rd hosting their Grand Opening party.
Food and drinks were served, and the store’s patio was buzzing with excitement during the event.
The celebration was well attended by family and friends of the Wallaces, as well as by many Dallas bicycle enthusiasts.
The store is a full service bicycle shop, and the repair shop is managed by two of the top bike repair specialists in Dallas.
“We hope the store will become a gathering place for cyclists since this new location is so close to White Rock Lake,” said Katy.
The shop has a locker room with showers where commuters can rent lockers and take showers before hopping on DART to ride downtown for work.
The Wallaces also have plans to open a coffee and smoothie bar in the store in the near future.
Their new store is located at 4875 W. Lawther and is the second Dallas Bike Works location. The first location is at the corner of Skillman and Abrams.
“We are so grateful to the Lake Highlands community," said Katy. "They have really embraced us and helped us realize our dream of owning a family business."
