Owned by long-time Lake Highlands residents, Lauren and Kerry Pollard, Pearl Dry Cleaning & Laundry isn’t your everyday, run of the mill dry cleaner.

"Our business has been built on the old school way of doing things,” says Kerry. “I learned from the best, having worked for both my grandfather and father who owned their own dry cleaning businesses. I was taught early on to do it right the first time and always own up to any mistake made, and make it right. Unfortunately, this does not always take place within the industry today.”
In addition to his family history, Kerry has over 20 years experience in the dry cleaning and laundry industry. His background includes management positions with well-known Dallas based dry cleaners such as Fishburns and Bibbentuckers. He was also the laundry manager for both the Anatole and Worthington hotels for a number of years.
“My career has taken a few turns, and I’ve learned a lot along the way,” Kerry said. “All my experiences have cemented my belief that a business model that is built on quality, customer service and doing the right thing will win out in the end."
“Of course, doing it the right way is by no means the cheapest way to operate,” says Kerry.
“Proper solvent maintenance and maintaining filtration systems can actually be quite expensive, and they are something most customers don't know much about," continues Kerry.
Replacing cracked or missing buttons and making minor repairs free of charge has seemed to disappear in this industry, but not at Pearl. "Not replacing cracked or missing buttons on men’s dress shirts is the #1 reason people switch dry cleaners," explains Kerry.
Kerry and Lauren bought Pearl Dry Cleaning & Laundry in August 2007, just prior to the economic downturn, yet have managed to grow the business 22% over this time. They have grown by word of mouth, referrals and adding their pick-up and delivery service.
