Double gold for seniors at LHHS Invitational

Senior Meron Fessahaie won gold in both the 800M and 1600M. He has yet to lose a race this season.

Senior Zach Knickman placed 2nd in the Discus and 4th in the Shot Put.

Brothers David (L) and Daniel Green (R), both took home medals from the LH Invitational. David won the varsity 100M & 200M, while Daniel placed 4th in the JV 100M & 200M and 1st in the 4x200M.

Running into a headwind, David Green won the 100M with a time of 11.03.

The Lady 'Cats finished 9th in the team standings this year.

The Lake Highlands Wildcats took to the track this past Friday as they hosted the LH Invitational at Eagle/Mustang Stadium in Richardson.

The meet was an outstanding success with 15 metroplex teams and over 750 student athletes in attendance.

One of the attractions of the Lake Highlands meet is the FAT (Fully Automated Timing) system that the LH coaches arrange each year.

The first place finisher in the varsity boys event was Plano West. Coach Jeff Brown's LH boys finished 6th, while several seniors continued to excel in their individual events.

David Green turned in strong 1st place finishes in the 100M and 200M sprints. His times of 11.03 in the 100M and 22.17 in the 200M currently rank in the top 3 in the DFW area.

Meron Fessahaie remains undefeated in his events this season.

The Rice signee placed 1st in a very competitive 800M race and was far ahead of his fellow runners in the 1600M. Meron came in at 1:57 in the 800M and 4:33 in the 1600M.

Zach Knickman was 2nd in the discus and 4th shot put with throws of 146' and 46' respectively.

The first place finisher in the varsity girls events was Mansfield Legacy.

Coach Knott's LH girls placed 9th overall in the event. The varsity girls 4x200 relay team placed 3rd with a time of 1.51.61.

The Lake Highlands JV boys and girls also competed on Friday.

Catherine Chew placed 1st in the 100M hurdles and 2nd in the 300M hurdles. Constance Ibe was 3rd in the 100M.

Daniel Green placed 4th in the 100M and 200M sprints. The JV boys 4x200 team finished 1st for the second consecutive week.

LHHS Track parent advisor Alan Green asked us to convey a big "thank you" to all the LH parents and students who volunteered at the meet.

Next up for the Wildcats are the Theo Rigby Relays this Thursday, March 10th at Birdville High School.
