Golf tourney lines up cash for LH teens
YMCA Golf Classic at Brookhaven Country Club
The Lake Highlands Family YMCA raised some much needed money this week at the annual YMCA Golf Classic. The tournament, co-hosted by the LH YMCA and the YMCA at White Rock, benefits several community outreach programs.

Event organizers say more than 60 players came to Brookhaven Country Club on Monday to brave high winds and colder than normal temperatures. They helped raise $6,000 which will be used by each branch to fund community projects.

Jayson Killough of the Lake Highlands YMCA was pleased with the turnout and said he heard nothing but positive feedback from the participants.

“We’re very happy to raise this money. It allows us to continue and expand on some of the teen programs we’ve been working on. The teen population is such an underserved population that we must focus on more and this money allows us to do that,” Killough said.

Killough was also quick to credit corporate sponsors and tournament committee members Alise Cortez, Jeff Laceky and John Caverlee.

Participants competed in a four person scramble and were treated to lunch and dinner. The winning team of Craig Walling, David Novit, Kip Morgan and Rance Bryson carded a score of 56.

Next up at the Lake Highlands YMCA is Healthy Kids Day on Saturday April 18th. For more about this and other YMCA programs, visit their website at: http://www.lakehighlandsymca.org.
