The Dallas Symphony Orchestra capped off the weekend with its annual Memorial Day concert Monday night at Flagpole Hill.
The audience was treated to a memorable fireworks display after the Orchestra finished its patriotic set.
“What a display and what a perfect way to finish a great holiday weekend in Lake Highlands,” said Wendy Thomas.
The concert wrapped up a busy weekend in Lake Highlands as several groups gathered to celebrate the long weekend and the unofficial start of summer.
The KayCee Pool opened to huge crowds throughout the weekend, with a rockin’ DJ and open grill to celebrate Memorial Day.
Several Lake Highlands residents pitched in on beautification efforts.
Boy Scout Troop 707 planted flags throughout the area between Audelia and Ferndale in preparation for Monday’s observance, a team of neighbors spruced up the entrance to White Rock Valley with new plants and flowers and many gardeners braved the heat at the Lake Highlands Community Garden.
On Sunday, the Puckett family of Greenfield hosted their second annual gathering with their driveway lined with tables chock full of food. Neighbors dropped by over a five hour period and enjoyed visiting and partaking of Pete Puckett's famous pickle stuffed bacon wrapped brats.
While the kids took advantage of the big tree house in the back yard, the grownups relaxed in beach chairs on the front lawn listening to Pete play guitar and sing.
Just another good, holiday weekend in Lake Highlands.
