Scofield's Fund Dinner event speakers
A longstanding Lake Highlands church and school started a fundraising tradition with a big splash recently. Former White House Counsel and Dallas native Harriet Miers was the featured guest at Scofield Christian School’s first annual Fund Dinner at the Crown Plaza Suites. The school is celebrating its 47th year as a Lake Highlands cornerstone.

Miers attended SMU and spent several years serving in President George W. Bush’s administration. Prior to that, she was the first female president of both the Dallas Bar Association and State Bar of Texas and served one term on the Dallas City Council.

Miers began by thanking the Scofield students for their personal notes and artwork that she received prior to the event. She recounted her days at the White House with a focus on the culture of service and responsibility.

The evening was emceed by on-air personality Scott Wilder of 100.7 FM, The Word. Wilder is a proud parent of three Scofield Christian School graduates who currently attend Lake Highlands High School and Lake Highlands Junior High School.

1991 SCS graduate Jacob Moran began the festivities with a heartfelt remembrance of his days at Scofield Christian School and how it impacted his life. Moran is employed at Forest Meadow Junior High and serves as the head coach for the RISD high school boys gymnastics program.

The prayer was offered by Dr. Don Campbell, President Emeritus of Dallas Theological Seminary and the proud grandparent of three SCS students.

The evening was well attended by alumni, teachers, parents and friends of Scofield Christian School. For more information about SCS, please refer to the school website http://www.scofieldchristian.org.
