Closing the gap on holiday hunger
Beginning this Sunday, December 5th, Lake Highlands newest health clinic and the non-profit HHM are requesting donations from the Lake Highlands community.
The food drive will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
NTFB and their affiliated networks distribute donated, purchased and prepared foods throughout 13 North Texas counties.
Event organizers are asking community residents to come out and support the Lake Highlands drive next week.
"We believe in community involvement," says Carol Ansley, who owns the new Doctors Express.
"And we know the need for food is great at this time of the year."
All canned goods collected will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank to help Close the Gap on hunger this holiday season.
When contacted, Janna Gardner, Executive Director of Healing Hands Ministries was excited to participate.
"We thought it was a splendid idea, and we were happy to co-sponsor the food drive."
Gardner and Ansley have a goal: to fill all ten boxes supplied by NTFB.
Donors and friends can follow the drive's progress on the Doctors Express Facebook page.
Doctors Express is located at the corner of Royal & Skillman in the Royal Highlands Shopping Center.
Make an effort to swing by with your donation next week and help "close the gap" on hunger this holiday season.
The physical address for Doctors Express Urgent Care Center is 9901 Royal Lane, Suite 106.
Canned goods can be dropped off between 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
For additional information, call the clinic at 214.902.0000.
