As owner and operator of two local businesses, Todd Daugherty is one busy guy.

Daugherty is a proud native of Lake Highlands and LHHS alum, class of ’86. He’s also a graduate of Texas A&M University, class of ’90.

“I actually started the landscaping company before I finished up at A&M,” says Daugherty. “I was eager to graduate so I could get back to Lake Highlands and grow the business.”

For 17 years Todd managed and grew his business, then he saw an opportunity to merge with another landscaping company and take it to the next level.

“The guys who owned LandM Landscape Management wanted out of the business," he explains. “Most of their clients were commercial properties and most of mine were residential, so merging our companies made a lot of sense.”

“I decided to keep the LandM name simply because they were a larger company with a well-known brand we could use to our advantage," says Daugherty. "The merger was complete in 2007, and it's been going strong ever sense.”

Seems running a full service commercial and residential landscape management company just wasn’t enough for him, though.

A few years ago, Daugherty decided he wanted to diversify a bit, so he bought a piece of property on Plano Road and built Crazy Jack’s Car Wash.

So, was the name of the business inspired by a crazy brother or another relative?

"Good guess," Daugherty chuckles. “Crazy Jack is my dog’s name, simple as that."
