LHEC honors Top Fire Fighter and Police Officer
Dallas Police Officer Jordan Colunga and Fire Fighter D.D. Pierce were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the safety of our community.
“Officer Colunga is tough, street smart and is worth 4 to 5 average officers,” says Lieutenant Mike Black. “Recently he apprehended an assault and robbery suspect, following a twenty minute chase, eliminating a reign of terror along Mockingbird.”
Officer Colunga is a University of North Texas graduate, lives in Dallas and has made 54 arrests this year.
“I work with a lot of great people,” says Colunga. “I am honored to serve this city and the Lake Highlands community.”
If you look closely at the fire engine from Station #57 you’ll see The Pride of Lake Highlands printed along its bumper. The driver of this celebrity engine is the 37-year fire fighter D.D. Pierce.
“One of the best drivers in the city is stationed in Lake Highlands,” says Dallas Fire-Rescue Captain, Todd Wilson. “Pierce helps with training fire fighters and never leaves doubt as to who is in charge of his engine. We are all proud to work with Pierce because of his professionalism and dedication to the department.”
In addition to being a top Driver/Engineer, Pierce is president of the 1,300 member Dallas Fire Fighters Association.
“Station #57 is a great place to work," says Pierce, "and I am honored to receive this recognition for all fire fighters."
“Lake Highlands also has a great asset in Jerry Allen," says Pierce. "We want to thank him for the work he does to improve Dallas .”
Allen was recently named Councilmember of the Year by the Dallas Fire Fighters Association. “It is a privilege to be around people like Colunga and Pierce,” says Allen. “These people are passionate about their jobs and they get results.”
