LHAIA spearheads “Shop Lake Highlands” Program
New initiative promotes LH economic growth
Jack White, President of the Lake Highlands Area Improvement Association, together with his board is spearheading a new initiative here in the 'hood.

Aptly titled "Shop Lake Highlands," this new marketing effort is co-sponsored by the LHAIA and Aztec Promotional Group, an Austin-based firm owned by former LH resident, Patti Winstanley.

The emphasis for the program grew from energy surrounding new development throughout Lake Highlands.

"Many of our efforts have been geared toward reaching out to developers and retailers to encourage new development and attract new business to our area," says White. "In addition to that effort, we wanted to create a campaign to promote our current retailers and restaurants."

"All of us on the board of the LHAIA are passionate about Lake Highlands and are excited about the future of our neighborhood," he continues.

"The idea is to capitalize on community pride and remind people that shopping in LH not only helps our current businesses stay profitable, but it also goes a long way in our ongoing efforts to attract new merchants."

During these tough economic times, it certainly makes sense to keep money here in our neighborhoods. The "Shop Lake Highlands" initiative is just one way to remind residents and community members to think locally first.

With LH businesses such as T-Hee Greetings and The Store in Lake Highlands both undergoing expansion, these local retailers are obviously on the right track.

David Farris, co-owner of T-Hee Greetings & Co. says business is so good, it's hard to find time for anything else. "We're off to Market this week and with the store-wide sale launching, there's just too much going on to even stop and talk," he says.

This is good news for our local businesses and for LH shoppers, so "Shop Lake Highlands" seems to be riding this wave at just the right time.

Watch for more updates soon on the expansion of both T-Hee Greetings and The Store in Lake Highlands. LH Today will keep you updated on all the expansion details.

To pick up your own "Shop Lake Highlands" window decal, drop by Highlands Cafe at 9661 Audelia Rd., Ste. 105 or T-Hee Greetings in the same shopping center - Ste. 110.

Shoppers can also find them at ReSell It! and The Store in Lake Highlands, both located in Northlake Shopping Center, at 10233 E. Northwest Highway @ Ferndale.
