LHHS Wildcat Wranglers - the month in review

October was a busy month for the 2009-'10 Wildcat Wranglers from Lake Highlands High School.

This country western dance team has become a true Texas tradition, as their choreographed routines and exciting stunts have been amazing crowds for years.

Obviously, the dedication of these kids is something to behold, and a quick look at their performance schedule proves it.

The Wranglers performed no less than 14 times in the month of October, and the performances are really just the half of it.

Consider the practice that goes into each routine and each performance.

Remember, too, that many of the 46 kids who make up the Wranglers are also involved in other extracurricular activities.

Several of the dancers participate in sports such as football, volleyball and cross country.

Then, of course, there's the small matter of school assignments, which they all have to manage as well.

Given their performance schedule in October, they were a hard act to miss.

The dance team's recent trip to the ABC studios at Victory Park to appear on Good Morning Texas was one highlight of the month.

The GMT show was the first of two Wrangler performances along side rising country music star and former LHHS Wrangler and alum, Granger Smith.

You can read about Granger in our recent People and Places article, that features an exclusive interview with the singer here.

Last Sunday, Granger returned to the senior parking lot of LHHS for the first time in 12 years to put on a concert for his hometown fans.

The concert was hosted by the Wranglers and benefited the high school's academic booster club, Wild for Cats.

Besides hanging with Granger and appearing on television, some of the Wrangler’s other performances in October included shows at the State Fair, halftime at a Dallas Mavericks game, Varsity Revue (x2) and Market in the Meadow.

The Wrangler’s busy schedule continues in November, so be sure to try to catch a performance.

Visit their website at http://www.lhhswranglers.org to see a complete schedule.

Our hats are off to this amazing group of talented Lake Highlands performers.
