Attendees celebrate at the 6th Annual Home Tour
April 14th was the big day, as committee members, volunteers and supporters gathered for the 6th Annual Home Tour, Silent Auction & Brunch.
Visiting three beautiful LH homes began the early morning festivities.
Ticket holders were able to spend time in the homes of the Ragsdale, Maguire, and Chen/Lee families.
If you missed the tour, you can get a sneak peek at few pictures of the houses here.
In this down economy, the group obviously had good reason to worry about their largest fundraiser of the year.
However, it turns out the ladies of the LHAECPTA were able to set a new record in 2010, raising $12,500.
Ticket sales, combined with a fabulous silent auction, helped make it possible.
"It's a great story actually," explains Carolyn Potter, incoming president for the LHAECPTA and a member of this year's home tour committee.
"Maxine Cox was the person who bought the 200th and final ticket," says Carolyn. "She is also the past president of the LHAECPTA from 1967. It was a perfect way to sell out the event!"
A big shout out goes to the local volunteer groups who helped support the event, as well.
This year found the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands and the Lake Highlands Junior Women's League front and center, as both groups hosted tables during the brunch.
"This was the first time we had community supported tables purchased," says Tiffany Walker, 2009-'10 LHAECPTA president, "It really helped promote a common thread among us. All our groups are so passionate about Lake Highlands."
It's a ringing endorsement in honor of this 50th anniversary year, and the celebration is actually continuing.
According to Walker, Nothing Bundt Cakes, who provided the amazing desserts for the event brunch, has extended their support of the early childhood PTA.
Now through May 5th, the company will donate $5 for every 8-inch cake purchased and $10 for every 10-inch cake when you mention the LHAECPTA.
"Anyone can 'Eat Cake and Donate Too'," says Tiffany. "There's no coupon necessary, so we hope everyone will share the promotion with family and friends throughout the Dallas area."
"These cakes would make a great gift for Mother's Day!"
Congratulations to all the members and volunteers of the Lake Highlands Area Early Childhood PTA on their 50th anniversary success.
