Franklin & Sanford bring great deals to LH
As an undergraduate at TCU, she spent three years in the consignment industry and now it's paying off in more ways than one.
"I had been praying about how things would fall into place, so the timing of it all coming together was really powerful," explains Sanford.
Welcoming sister Lori Franklin into the fold was all part of the grand plan.
Following a 25-year career in the telecom industry, Franklin was left wondering what the next step would be when lay-offs began at her company.
So when she received word that her position was being eliminated, she took it as a sign.
"I had always wanted to run my own business and work for myself, so when my Robyn called and said 'it's now or never' I knew it was meant to be," says Franklin.
The result of their partnership is Lake Highlands' newest business, Sisters Closet, located at 10240 E. Northwest Highway - just a short walk from the Cake Ball Company.
"The biggest issue for us was finding the right location," says Sanford.
The pair did a lot of research before settling on their new Lake Highlands address. Helping seal the deal was the close proximity to sister Tracy's home - located just around the corner in White Rock Valley.
"Tracy actually hosted our first consignment party, which helped us build our inventory and get us ready to open the doors at our new location," says Franklin.
"We needed good inventory and word of mouth to help us get the ball rolling."
Following a few logistical issues that included electrical mishaps and contractor snafus, the boutique is now up and running, open everyday of the week except Sundays.
"We already have almost 40 consignors under contract," says Franklin. "And new customers and inventory are arriving everyday."
The new store boasts a hand-made selection of girls hair bows and plans for personalized bloomers and burp clothes are in the works.
"Customers can expect trunk shows from our suppliers, as well as seasonal sales twice a year," says Sanford.
Sisters Closet is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., with extended hours on Tuesdays and Fridays.
"We'll be open until 6:30 p.m. twice a week to accommodate parents whose children are in classes down at the Kumon Learning Center, " explains Franklin.
"We're hopeful that these extended hours will benefit lots of Lake Highlands families."
Sisters Closet also boasts special sections devoted to school uniforms, holiday attire and winter coats.
So be sure to drop by and check it out, because whether you're shopping or consigning, this new boutique promises something for everyone.
