Highlands Plaza has witnessed a lot of change in the past year.

The shopping center at 9661 Audelia Road has seen the closing of the Neighborhood Wal-Mart and Washington Mutual Bank most recently.

But it's the smaller, and hugely popular, tenants that this strip center at the southwest corner of Walnut Hill and Audelia is best known for.

Home to Highlands Cafe, now celebrating its fifth year in business, and T. Hee Greetings, a boutique known to draw customers from all over Dallas, Highlands Plaza is more than holding its own in this bleak economy.

Add to the mix the recent additions of My Office and LH Floral, which re-opened this fall under new management, and Lake Highlands shoppers have more than a few great reasons to head over and shop local.

Highland Nails, owned by Kelly and Kevin Kieu, is located just around the corner from T. Hee Greetings, and they've developed quite a loyal customer base over the last 15 years.

The new location isn’t far from their old one. In fact, it’s just next door.

The Kieus were able to secure a 1,300 square foot space right next to their original place of business, and after nearly four months of construction, they want everyone to come and see the changes.

LH Today stopped in to visit with the Kieus and see their new space.

"Our customers are very happy with the expansion," says Kevin. "We're getting a lot of positive feedback so far."

The newly remodeled and expanded space now features 10 brand new leather salon chairs, flat screen televisions and clean, open and well-appointed décor.

In addition to their full suite of nail care, the salon is now offering facials, massages and waxing services.

"We employ a hospital grade sanitation process," adds Kevin. "The hygiene and health of our customers is very important to us."

In honor of the Grand Re-Opening, they're hosting a celebration this Sunday from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

But the best news is that the salon is really celebrating by offering 20% off all their services through December 31st.

Aside from the beautiful new environment, this is a fantastic reason to head over and pay the salon a visit. The Kieus, along with their six employees, are ready and waiting.
