Fox network's "The Good Guys"
The Nielsen Company is reporting that nearly 5 million viewers tuned in the watch the show Wednesday night on FOX.
Jack Bailey, who is played by Colin Hanks, portrays a Dallas detective who's paired up with a semi-celebrity and often drunk partner, Dan Stark, played by actor Bradley Whitford.
Together the pair investigates Code 58 cases, which is Dallas police lingo for "routine investigations."
The overall premise?
These routine investigations often lead the Dallas detectives into much bigger predicaments - like dealing with Mexican drug dealers and hired assassins.
After tuning in Wednesday night, it's easy to see the show has promise.
With a production insider telling LH Today that the show's budget is $1 million an episode, it's fair to hope for big things.
Bradley Whitfield, as the nearly washed-up Stark, steals quite a few of the scenes with his irreverent one-liners and musings of days gone by.
Colin Hanks (son of Tom Hanks) seems a bit stiff in his role, but that's his character's nature. It will be interesting to see how he warms up, if he does.
It was a lot of fun watching for all the Dallas landmarks in Wednesday night's pilot. Picking out local hot spots was pretty easy.
St. Pete's Dancing Marlin in Deep Ellum played a big role in the premiere, as did a number of recognizable downtown locales.
Today the crew is on location right here in Lake Highlands, for what we hear will be an "explosive" scene.
