David, together with his wife & children
For our sports page readers and live broadcast listeners, the name David Hardt is a familiar one.
Longtime Lake Highlands residents might also remember him from his coaching and teaching days at Lake Highlands High School.
Friends and current real estate colleagues sometimes refer to him as "Big D," and David jokes that the Hardt family could soon be coming to an LH neighborhood near you.
"We jumped over from Merriman Park North to Lake Highlands Estates three years ago," says David. "Love me some Lake Highlands!"
"We've been in our current home for three years now, and we love the neighborhood, our neighbors, and Wallace Elementary."
Together with his wife Tresa, a public relations executive, they have two children – Maddie Claire and Reeves – keeping them busy.
"I'm tying to remain 'cool' in the eyes of my 9 year-old daughter, while chasing my 3 year-old son around with a Bible in one hand and a first aid kit in the other!"
His days find him busy on the real estate scene, as a Realtor with Ebby Halliday at the Lake Highlands/White Rock office.
"I've been with Ebby 10 years now…dang, I am getting old!"
"I'm still having fun serving the real estate needs of families. Meeting their expectations is still very rewarding."
David also serves as a men's ministry leader at Fellowship Bible Church and on the board with the Lake Highlands Estates Neighborhood Association.
"And that goofy hick-sounding voice you hear on the LH Today game day broadcasts is me!"
"Broadcasting Wildcat football & baseball this past year was an absolute blast," he says.
"Just imagine watching a game in your living room with a bunch of your friends. You get to talk about every single play without anyone telling you to shut up."
Back on the home front, David refers to Tresa as the love of his life.
"It was either temporary insanity on her part, or a gift from God that she decided to marry me. I'll go with God on this one."
On a typical weekend, you might find him searching for just the right house with clients, or fishing at White Rock Lake with the kids.
"I know," he says. "Yes, we do fish there."
Each day for David starts around 4:30 a.m.
"I get up early most every morning so I can get my head right with the Lord before I venture out the door for the day."
"If I tried to tackle each day on my own... not so good," he adds.
"As I get older, and possibly, maybe a tiny bit wiser, I have found that the best things in this life have absolutely nothing to do with me."
Except for those sports broadcasts, of course.
We sure love that Hardt color commentary!
