Dubuclet, near her Lake Highlands home
The Lake Highlands resident of ten years also majored in English and Theater at SMU as a graduate student and puts her masters degree to use teaching English and Communication for the University of Phoenix.
Mallory is, first and foremost, mom to three rambunctious boys – Drew (7), Dylan (5), and Aiden (2) who keep her extremely busy!
Why do they enjoy calling Lake Highlands home?
Mallory says when she was searching for a place to live, friends suggested Lake Highlands for its family friendly environment and great public schools.
"They said Lake Highlands is the place to be, and they were right!"
She also says her kids were the inspiration behind discovering her recent passion for exercising.
"After my first child, I joined the YMCA because they provided child care and then I got really serious about exercising."
That passion for exercising, combined with recent life changes, gave her the courage to start her own business, Positively Fit Lake Highlands.
"Deep in my heart I knew was a personal trainer," she says.
"I worked out with friends just for fun and found that people want to work out but don't always know what to do or how to do it effectively."
Mallory lives in the Forest Meadow subdivision of Lake Highlands and now holds boot camps and classes in her backyard.
She also has a fitness course set up throughout the neighborhood.
Her classes are held prior to school hours, as well as during the mornings while the kids are in school.
"Being a mom, I know how hard it can be to find time to exercise. We have a co-op of mom volunteers who babysit in shifts, and in exchange they receive free classes."
"My workouts are positive and fun – sort of like a social event," she says.
"We work hard and are here to motivate each other."
The new business is also a hit with her kids.
"Drew took the website address to school for the teacher to put on the wall. I didn't know he had done it. They are so excited for me!"
"I'm hoping to develop a day camp for kids due to my own children's interest in my work."
In addition to exercising, she loves the simple pleasure of reading for relaxation.
With three kids and two jobs, Mallory somehow still finds time to stay active in the community.
She's involved in the Lake Highlands Early Childhood PTA and Moss Haven Elementary PTA and is also a fundraiser and advocate for the Lake Highlands YMCA.
"I love this community. It's for real people just like me."
"In Lake Highlands I can raise my kids and really be happy and healthy."
