Can you give us an some examples of how your company makes the world a better place?
EarthPeople has helped several large law firms, but apart from helping conventional companies go green, my favorite clients are green start-ups.
We are currently doing branding and media relations for several companies in the electric vehicle and alternative energy sectors.
I love being able to apply my enthusiasm and skills to helping bring to market technologies that are addressing the world's greatest problems.
We're also changing the way business is done. Clients like ours don't have the budgets for expensive agencies. At EP, we use a team of contractors who each have deep expertise in a particular area.
By working from a "virtual" home office, we save clients a lot of money but still deliver first-rate work. In fact, my home is the second LEED-certified house in Dallas. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, so you could say our "corporate headquarters" is a cutting-edge green building.
We lead by example and show clients how to do the same.
What is your dream job?
I'm living it right now. I work with exciting world-changing entrepreneurs and community leaders. I write books, I have two blogs, and I'm able work from home on my own schedule. For the skills I have right now and my role as a mom of two small children, it doesn't get better than this.
In the future, I don't see myself doing much different except more of the same, but perhaps on a global level.
EarthPeople has also recently joined forces with strategic partners in South Africa and Australia. I have standing invitations to visit. I can't wait to meet my new business partners on their own turf.
Together, we have formed an international team of like-minded people with a mission to help others make the world a better place. It's so much fun I can't stand it!.
What else do you think is important for people to know about you and what you do?
Nobody is too small to make a difference. When you pair your talents with your God-given mission, you are destined to make your mark.
It's not scale that matters, either. You don't have to be a world leader to do something important. Someone's calling may be to conduct green work in their school, church or community. It takes courage and commitment to lead even the smallest change initiatives. So much of what I've learned about building sustainable society goes back to community.
If we just had more people taking time in their own communities to educate and inspire people to take care of the planet, we would be making an important contribution.
Not only that, we'd be giving our kids the benefits of cleaner air and a global outlook that will prepare them for leadership and innovation in their future careers.
The world is changing fast. Nobody can escape it by putting their head in the sand. Green presents a great economic opportunity for us as individuals and as a country.
