Holiday smiles on the home tour
The 2010 Holiday in the Highlands Home Tour was a runaway success!
The biggest annual event and fundraiser for the Lake Highlands Women's League was held last Friday, December 3rd.
Including a sold-out luncheon and holiday market at Highland Oaks Church of Christ, the popular event looks to be recession-proof.
Cheryl Zreet, who handles publicity for the league, reported a grand total raised of $166,000 as of last weekend.
"I understand this is slightly above last year's numbers," she said. "Which is great in this economy, and sometimes the number goes up as late contributions trickle in!"
The combination of incredible Lake Highlands homes, good food and great holiday shopping was complimented by nice weather, too.
"We had a great turn-out," said Zreet, "and I think it was due in part to the extremely beautiful day."
Kudos go to Robin Crawford and Karen Stutsman, as well. The pair put in countless hours leading the effort this year.
"They did such a great job as the chairmen and worked to introduce some new decoration and graphic ideas, updating our LHWL image."
If you weren't able to visit the homes on this year's tour (and believe us when we tell you, you missed out!) we have a few you can enjoy in the LH Today Photo Gallery.
One thing to keep in mind as you view them?
As beautiful as these home are, and as gracious as the homeowners are who share them with us, the biggest winner is our community.
With over $1.6 million raised by the Women's League and distributed to Lake Highlands students and community projects over the last four decades, Holidays in the Highlands proves beauty is definitely more than skin deep.
