Liquid Zoo makes an LH debut
A new tenant for the Elephant's old location
A couple of weeks ago, we shared news of a new philly steak joint coming to the Plaza Bank Center at Skillman and Audelia.

This week we've got the scoop on a new bar and grill that's making the move to Skillman and Abrams.

When the Stone Elephant abruptly closed its doors in March of this year, it left another empty retail spot and one less opportunity to Shop Lake Highlands.

The Liquid Zoo sports bar and grill is looking to fill that spot.

Owner and operator, Nell Scarborough, visited with us yesterday about her plans.

"I’ve been in the restaurant and bar business in the Dallas area for a longtime," said Scarborough.

"Prior to that, I was a banker in the area for 28 years and my husband, Don, is a retired Dallas firefighter and one of our cooks. He was with the department for nearly 40 years."

Liquid Zoo, with one current location in Terrell, expects to be serving hamburgers, fresh veggies and appetizers by September.

"All our food is homemade," Scarborough told us.

"We specialize in half pound burgers and homemade fries. Our meat is ground fresh daily and never frozen."

Also on the menu will be homemade items including chicken salad, salsa and a super secret receipt for Scarborough's Texas Toast.

"We have plans for family karaoke nights along with other specials that focus on a fun family-friendly environment."

In addition to the homemade food, Liquid Zoo will have plenty of TV’s for sports and trivia, dart games, pool tables and shuffle board.

Specialty cigars will also be available for purchase for those who want to partake on the patio.

Diners can enjoy the free juke box on Saturday evenings, as well.

"The location is great and we're excited to get going," said Scarborough.

"You should start to see plenty of activity over there real soon."

The Liquid Zoo will be located at 6750 Abrams Road, Suite 105.

Watch for a website and full menu coming soon.
