‘Cats roll Sunset in Homecoming win
Senior offensive lineman, Chase Walling, leads the 'Cats out onto the field for their Homecoming game against Sunset.

As expected, the Lake Highlands Wildcats (4-2, 3-0) picked up a Homecoming win over the Sunset Bisons (1-5, 0-3) on Friday night.

While Lake Highlands didn't score as many points as they did in previous meetings, the game was never in doubt.

The Wildcats scored on their first four possessions of the game, with Jacobi Johnson doing most of the heavy lifting for the 'Cats.

The senior running back scored on the second play of the game on a 31-yard scamper.

Johnson's second touchdown came nearly as quick when he finished off the 'Cats second possession with a 29-yard rushing touchdown.

In all, Johnson had 134 yards and two touchdowns, nearly all coming in the first half, as the starters sat the bench most of the second half.

Also netting an impressive showing was sophomore running back, Roger Williams, who was moved up from the junior varsity squad for the game against the Bisons.

Williams scored the first time he touched the ball as a varsity player from 37 yards out. He finished the game with seven carries for 98 yards.

On the injury front, it was good to see junior quarterback, Michael Ketchmark, suit up for the first time since his injury against Mesquite Horn.

While fellow junior, Trent Jones, got the start and played the majority of the game, Ketchmark knocked some of the rust off and played one series in the first half.

Expect him to be ready to go in this week's match up against Berkner.

Undefeated in district play, the 'Cats are now tied for first place in the district standings with Skyline.

The next four games (in order: Berkner, Jesuit, Skyline and Richardson) are critical for Coach Smith's squad.

Each of the next four contests have important playoff implications, and a district title is still up for grabs. It's time to shine.

Up next for the 'Cats is District 9-5A rival, Berkner High School.

Lake Highlands will be the away team for the Friday night game against the Rams at the Boneyard.

LH Today will be there broadcasting, with our pregame show set to start at 7:10 p.m.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

GO 'CATS!
