Wildcats to face Belton in 3rd round of playoffs
'Cats baseball is on a playoff run! 3rd round action against the Belton Tigers begins this Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

As we've done the last two playoff games, LH Today will be in Belton tonight bringing you the game LIVE via our streaming audio broadcast. Our broadcast will include live audio, a data feed with game stats and, if all goes as planned, we will have photos uploaded every couple of innings.

For all you iPhone users, you can tune in to the game on your iPhone via any application that will sync with a streaming audio URL address. Two commonly used Internet radio apps are "WunderRadio" and "FStream." WunderRadio is our personal favorite.

To utilize these apps, our URL address is: mms://cdn1.meridix.com/LHToday

Otherwise, for you stationary types, click on the below link for our LIVE game coverage! We will go on the air at roughly 7:15 p.m., with the first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.

With the Round 2 sweep of Killeen Ellison in the bag, the Lake Highlands Wildcats have now punched their ticket to the Regional Quarterfinals of the 2010 state playoffs.

That's the good news. The not-so-good news is the Wildcats will face the Belton Tigers who, with a record 31-6 on the season, are currently ranked 3rd in the 5A state rankings.

"Having talent and depth hasn't been a problem for us," Tiger's Head Coach Eddie Cornblum recently said. "We needed to figure out how to gel - to play as a team instead of a bunch of individuals."

"The turning point for us this season was the Lubbock tournament where we spent 3-4 days together and went 6-0, winning the tournament against a bunch of stiff competition. We played really good baseball and found some the answers we were looking for."

Their impressive 31 win season (and hopefully not counting) was no fluke.

The Tigers 2010 schedule is littered with some of the best teams in the state, including fellow District 12-5A power, A&M Consolidated. Both teams had their way with the 'Cats counterparts in District 9-5A with A&M Consol sweeping the Richardson Eagles and Belton sweeping Berkner.

Prior to sweeping Berkner, the Tigers also swept Desoto in their Bi-District round series. The Tigers have dominated on their way to the third round of the playoffs, accumulating three shutouts along the way.

Game 2 against Berkner was the first time the Tigers have allowed a run in over 23 innings of play.
