District rivals set for Boneyard showdown
The Lake Highlands Wildcats (4-2, 3-0) take on the Berkner Rams (3-3, 1-2) tonight at the Boneyard. Lake Highlands has enjoyed four straight wins over its district rival, so Berkner will be looking to snap the 'Cats win streak tonight. Join us LIVE right here on LH Today for all the action!

District 9-5A rivals clash tonight at the Boneyard as the Lake Highlands Wildcats (4-2, 3-0) take on the Berkner Rams (3-3, 1-2).

For the past three contests, Lake Highlands has enjoyed being the "home" team for their annual showdown with the Rams.

However, for the first time since their 2007 match-up, the Boneyard will be dressed in green with Berkner designated as the home team.

While bragging rights are always at stake when these rivals take the field, not lost is also what's at stake when it comes to the Distrcit 9-5A standings.

At 1-2 in district play, and coming off a 34-27 win over W.T. White, Berkner currently sits in fifth place in the standings. They are outside looking in for one of the four 9-5A playoff spots.

The Wildcats are sitting on a four game win streak over the Rams, and Berkner would love nothing more than to regain bragging rights tonight.

Lake Highlands has won three district games in a row, but those three wins came against Samuell, W.T. White and Sunset.

While the wins were certainly expected, the soft opening to the district schedule enabled the 'Cats to get all their starters healthy after a tough non-district schedule.

This includes Michael Ketchmark who went down with an injury in the second Wildcat game of the season against Mesquite Horn.

Ketchmark returned to action last week against Sunset but played only one series as 'Cats quarterback. Look to see number 13 on the field a lot more tonight.

Also now healthy is Mr. Do-It-All, DeVonte Sunwenghan, who was also dinged up a bit in that game against Mesquite Horn.

The senior offensive utility man will be needed tonight against the Berkner defense, which is anticipated to be a big step up from what the 'Cats have seen over the past three games.

While the 'Cats have been declared healthy, Berkner has been dealing with a big injury of their own after junior quarterback, Yedidiah Louis, was banged up against Jesuit and saw limited action last week against W.T. White.

So far this season, Berkner has relied on Louis to run its offense, which deploys a running attack dependent on efficient decision making and explosiveness from the quarterback position in order to be effective.

To put this in perspective in terms of statistics, Louis has rushed the ball 140 times for 754 yards this season; 111 times more than the Rams next leading rusher, Fred White, who has 29 carries for 214 yards.

Woods Norcross, Jr. and David Hardt will fire up the mics for the pregame show at 7:10 p.m.

Kick-off set for 7:30 p.m.

GO 'CATS!
