Three varsity players for the Lady Wildcats’ soccer team rang in the New Year by winning championships at the highly acclaimed Disney Soccer Showcase Tournament held each year in Orlando, Florida.
Brinkley Field, Glory Williams, and Kelsey Munoz, each playing for their highly nationally ranked select “club” teams - Solar Red 94, Sting 95, and Solar 95, respectively - won against the best-of-the-best in U.S. youth club soccer to earn first-place honors.
Each girl's excellence on the field earned them personal recognition.
Brinkley Field helped successfully defend her team’s championship title won last year.
Glory Williams was one of 11 out of roughly 1,150 players in her age group selected to the All-Event Team.
While Kelsey Munoz anchored a defense that allowed only two goals total in her team’s championship run.
Each championship won by the girls is especially meaningful as this year’s Disney Tournament featured 262 top U.S. teams that fielded over 5,200 players and attracted more than 800 NCAA college coaches and scouts.
The girls will endeavor to continue their fine play on the field this season as members of the Lake Highlands High School Lady Wildcats varsity soccer team.
The Lady Wildcats, defending 9-5A District Champions, will work hard this season to best their Regional Tournament appearance earned in last year’s state playoffs.
With such a great start to this year, another championship medal may soon be in the offing for these young ladies and their teammates.
