With the 2010 school year winding down, several seniors signed their college scholarship papers last week.
Lady 'Cats basketball head coach, Holly Mulligan, called for an official seniors signing day party to help celebrate the careers of her players.
Three of her players, along with their friends, teammates and family, all gathered together in the LHHS gym for the celebration.
Kosi Ekwu, who played center for the Lady ‘Cats basketball team, signed to play at Collin College.
D.J. Sandidge who was a major contributor in both the Lady ‘Cats basketball and softball programs, has signed to play softball at Hendrix College in Arkansas.
Sam Couch, who played point guard for the Lady ‘Cats basketball team, will play college ball at Trinity University where she earned an academic scholarship.
"All of these girls mean so much to me and they have worked really hard for everything they've earned," said Mulligan.
"I'm so proud of them and thank them for all they've done for our Lady 'Cats athletic programs. They have represented LHHS with pride, poise, class and discipline the past four years!"
'Cats senior golfer, Randy Appling, who won the District 9-5A title this year, will be playing golf at the next level after signing his scholarship papers last week in the LHHS Student Center.
After getting attention from several local colleges, Appling said A&M-Commerce was just the right fit.
"They had the best facilities of all the schools I looked at, and I also really liked the head coach," Appling said.
Boys golf head coach, Christopher Cole, spoke highly of Appling.
"He is such a hard worker and a great kid. He deserves to see if he can improve his game for the next level, and I wish him great success. It will be hard to fill his spot next year."
Congrats to all the Wildcat athletes on a great year - we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
