Sports parties are usually fun, and the LH Volleyball team leaves no doubt, they like to have fun!
TopGolf was the location for this year’s celebration and a perfect venue for the 2009 Lady ‘Cat volleyball banquet.
As sports banquets usually go, the night was spent recognizing team achievements, as well as individual performances. It was filled with a lot of laughs at the expense of nearly all the players and coaches. Good times.
Special attention was paid to the five graduating seniors – Team Captains Rachael Zreet and Caroline Henton, Rachel Peters, Melanie Trostel and Christiana Flanagan.
“These seniors are a special group and really embraced me when I arrived on the job here in Lake Highlands,” Head Coach Melissa Christman said to the audience.
“They took it upon themselves to lead together and build the team based on team goals,” Christman continued. “No matter what, they stuck to the goals, fought together and never waivered. It takes a lot of character to do that, and I’m extremely proud of each one of them and want to thank them for all they’ve done for this program.”
Cleary, Wildcat volleyball is stacked and loaded for years to come. Not only did the varsity team go undefeated in district play with a record of 13-0, but so did the junior varsity and freshman squads.
Fans can head over to LHJH and find another undefeated team lead by 30-year LH coaching veteran, Gladys Johnson.
Coincidentally, our inaugural LH Today Athlete of the Week is senior team captain Caroline Henton. Check out the new sports page to view this new feature and read more about Caroline’s accomplishments.
Best wishes to all the seniors as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.
We certainly look forward to seeing the underclassmen carry the torch next year!
GO ‘CATS!
