The Wildcats hosted the Longhorns of WT White for Homecoming Friday night.
The only suspense to this game came during the few moments before the Homecoming Queen was crowned just prior to kick-off.
The ‘Cats jumped off to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
By halftime, the score was 40-0.
When the final whistle blew the Boneyard scoreboard tilted left with a final score of LH 54, 'Horns 6.
With 399 yards on the night, the Wildcat offense played well enough for the starters to sit the bench most of the second half. The only glitch of the night was a couple Wildcat turnovers in the first half.
For the fourth game in a row, the 'Cat defense put on a clinic, giving up only 135 yards and six points, most of which came late in the fourth quarter.
Five different Wildcat players scored rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Ricky Zorn accounted for three TD’s in all, two on the ground and another on a 19-yard pass to senior running back, Taylor Stephenson.
The Dallas Morning News thought enough of the win to bump the Wildcats up a notch to 8th in the area rankings.
With two winnable games left in district play, the Wildcats are poised to make a run in the state rankings leading up to the state playoffs.
Congrats to all the young ladies who were nominated for Homecoming court and special congratulations to Homecoming Queen Ijay Enerenmadu (pictured below), Princess Emily Hillman and Duchess Carly Kaplan.
The Wildcats take on Creekview High School this Friday, October 30th in Carrollton.
