The Lake Highlands Wildcats traveled to Addison last Friday night to take on W.T. White in an important District 9-5A match-up.
The game marked the return of a healthy DeVonte Sunwenghan whose responsibilities have been somewhat limited in previous weeks due to an injury.
Back on his game, Sunwenghan made his presence known against the Longhorns with 165 total yards and three touchdowns, leading the 'Cats to a 37-14 win.
Other notable performances for the Wildcats included senior running back, Jacobi Johnson, who added 116 total yards and a touchdown to the boxscore.
Junior quarterback Trent Jones was efficient in the win, passing for two touchdowns and just under 100 yards with no interceptions.
The Lake Highlands defense had a good showing as well, limiting the Longhorns to 224 total yards while registering four sacs, including a safety early in the second half.
Senior Jacquille Myles added an interception to his defensive stats, as well.
The Wildcats (3-2, 2-0) return home on this Friday night for the Homecoming game against Sunset (1-4, 0-3) which should provide the Coach Smith's squad one last tune-up before the meat of the district 9-5A schedule begins.
At 2-0 in district play, the 'Cats are currently in the three-way tie for first place with Jesuit (4-1, 2-0) and Skyline (5-0, 2-0).
Assuming the 'Cats take care of business on Friday against Sunset, the 'Cats will be 3-0 heading into the last month of the season with Berkner, Jesuit, Skyline and Richardson waiting.
As usual, it's a 7:30 p.m. kick-off on Friday against Sunset at The Boneyard.
We'll bring you all the action LIVE right here on LH Today with our pregame show starting at approximately 7:10 p.m.
GO 'CATS!
