Gina Gossett
District MVP - Lady 'Cats Soccer
Senior Gina Gossett doesn't have a long stat line to brag about - no goals on the season to hang her hat on. However, her all-around play and leadership skills were so well thought of that the coaches of District 9-5A honored her with the district's MVP for the 2010 season.
Gina was a team captain and stand out defensive player for the Lady 'Cats. Her play on the back-line was key in the team's 2nd place finish in District 9-5A, as well as their Area round appearance in the playoffs.
Like many standout athletes at LHHS, Gina excels off the field as well. She will graduate with a 3.6 GPA and will attend OU along with her twin sister, Erin, and older sister, Kelsey. She was also a member of the Wranglers, Girls Service League, Student Council and Young Life.
Ryan Browder
Utility Player - Wildcat Baseball
Senior Ryan Browder's exceptional play was key to the 'Cats Game 3 win in the Area round playoff series against Killeen. Ryan played solid defense in left field for most of the game, but it was his hitting and pitching in the 6th and 7th innings that put the 'Cats in a position to win the series.
Down by a run in the bottom of the 6th inning, Browder stepped to the plate and smashed a homer to tie the game. Then, with Browder on the mound in the top of the 7th, the Eagles went three-up and three-down. His combination of strong pitching and clutch hitting gave the 'Cats a shot to win the game in the bottom of the 7th inning. The rest, of course, is history.
Ryan is in the National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, was a Wrangler Captain, and is also a member of the LHHS A Cappella Choir. He will attend Baylor University in the fall.
