Andrew Little
Cross Country
Andrew Little
Few athletes stumble upon a sport their junior year of high school and make as big a splash as Andrew Little. This summer, Little decided that he would attend cross country practices to get in shape. Within weeks, he was one of the best on the team. At the first meet, the Greenhill Relays, Little ran a stunning 8:04 over a mile and a half, which was a mere 14 seconds off Lake Highlands legend and current runner at Rice University, Meron Fessahaie, and his time of 7:50 at the same meet last year. Little has seen similar success throughout this year, including a first-place finish at the Rowlett Invitational with a Personal Record time of 17:02 over five kilometers, or 3.1 miles.

Little is far from a one-trick pony. Academically, he ranks in the top 20 students. Outside of school and cross country, Little is also a Wrangler, the junior class Treasurer, and participates in Young Life, FCA, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, the Harmonica Club, church, and the Student Council Pride and Patriotism committee.
Spencer Wood
Wildcat Tennis
Spencer Wood
Spencer Wood personifies what the LHHS Tennis team is all about. Being consistent and dedicated has afforded him and the team much success. In the last four years, the team has not only won the title each year, but it has yet to lose a district match. Such consistency for a team is remarkable.

Wood has been on varsity all four years of his high school career. This is no small feat for a team as successful as Wildcat Tennis. Additionally, Wood qualified for the Regional Tournament in each of the last two years and again this year. Coach Williams recognized Wood’s leadership on and off the court and named Spencer captain of this year’s team.

When he's not leading the tennis team to victory, Wood is usually participating in music in one way or another. Wood sings in two bands, as well as in Espree and the school choir. Wood also serves as the captain of the Lake Highlands Dance Crew.
