The Wildcats ended district play with a bang - smashing five home runs on their way to a 12-2 win over Molina Friday night.
The big win over Molina capped off a much needed three game win streak for Coach Higgins and the squad. Losing even one of the last three games would have likely resulted in the 'Cats missing the playoffs this year.
Junior Blake Woodson, who is amongst the top hitters in the DFW area with a .500 batting average on the season, led the way for the 'Cats against Molina. He tallied four RBI's in the game off two home runs and was an Honorable Mention as the Player of the Week in the Dallas Morning News.
Freshman Michael Ketchmark and seniors Cameron Bodell and Byron Burns also registered home runs against Molina. For Burns, it was his first of the season.
The 'Cats win pits Lake Highlands against Rowlett in their Bi-district playoff game. Rowlett finished District 10-5A play with an 11-1 record - their only loss coming just last week against Sachse.
The first game of a three game series against Rowlett will be played at LHHS at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6th.
The second game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7th at Rowlett High School.
If needed, the deciding game will be played on Saturday, time and location TBD.
Best of luck in the playoffs to the 2010 Wildcat baseball team!
