After a hard fought but disappointing loss to Richardson High School on Wednesday night, the 'Cats traveled to W.T. White on Thursday to take on the Longhorns.

With a 6-5 record in district play, and only two games remaining on the schedule, a loss to the Longhorns would have crippled the 'Cats chances at a playoff berth.

The 'Horns struck first and went up 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning. However, the 'Cats exploded with 10 runs on 8 hits in the fourth.

Senior Judson Luther, who also was the 'Cats starting pitcher, got things going from the plate by driving in two runs with a line drive single.

Then, with the bases loaded and still no outs, senior Cameron Bodell drove a fastball to the wall in left center field for a 3-run triple. Bodell scored on a sac fly by senior Byron Burns.

Two straight singles and a hit batter brought Luther to the plate with the bases loaded. And once again he delivered with an RBI single, setting the stage for the final blow of the inning which was a two out, two-run rope down the third base line by senior Ryan Browder.

The 'Cats added one more run to their total the top of the 7th inning, on two walks and a throwing error, which gave the 'Cats an important 11-1 win.

Judson Luther gave up only one run on five hits in the game and struck out four Longhorns to pick up the complete game win.

The 'Cats play their third game in three days tonight at home against Creekview. This game is easily the most important of the season for Coach Higgins and his squad, as their playoff fate will likely be determined by the outcome.

With an 8-4 record, the Mustangs are currently sitting in fourth place in the district standings, one game up on the 'Cats.

A win tonight would force a fourth place tie in the district standings, putting LH in the driver's seat for the last District 9-5A playoff spot, due to the fact they'd have two wins over Creekview this season.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
