After a disappointing 3-1 loss to Richardson, the 'Cats are now on a two game win streak after defeating Samuell and W.T. White last week.
After a blow-out 10-1 win over Samuell last Tuesday, the 'Cats took on W.T. White last Friday and prevailed 1-0 in an extremely fast-paced game. W.T. White was looking to rebound against the 'Cats after narrowly falling to Jesuit in penalty kicks on Tuesday evening.
Senior Emmet Kumeh, who is currently committed to play for SMU next year, got the lone goal in the first half, and the physical power and presence provided by the return of 6'7" Abdoulaye Faly solidified the defense.
For the season, Joel Mendoza (14) and Emmet Kumeh (10) are the leading goal scorers for the 'Cats.
The Wildcats have set their goal – to run through the second half of district play without a loss, with a special eye on their rematch with Jesuit on Tuesday, March 8th at Wildcat/Ram Stadium. The 'Cats are currently in third place in the District 9-5A standings, two games back of Jesuit and a game back of Richardson.
For the Lady 'Cats, at 7-0 in district play, heading into tonight's game against Sunset, they have a commanding two game lead over Skyline (6-2) and Berkner (5-2) in the District 9-5A standings.
Brinkley Fields leads the Lady 'Cats in goals scored this season with 12. Maggie Olvera has tallied eight goals this season while Avery Voight and Glory Williams have registered six goals apiece.
The boys team take on Sunset tonight at The Boneyard while the girls travel to Sunset. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
