Day two of the 5A Region II Track meet was had on Tuesday with four LHHS Wildcats competing in their respective events - Nicole Alozie, Meron Fessahaie, David Green and Victor Iwuagwu.
With Region II is widely considered the toughest region in the state, it made qualifying for state a very tough proposition.
With the field events up first, sophomore Nicole Alozie gained valuable experience against a strong field in the Long Jump and finished 18th with a leap of 16'-02''.
Senior Victor Iwuague made the trip to Waco as a regional qualifier in the Pole Vault. While he didn't qualify for state, he did register a PR with a vault of 14'-6'' which was good for a 5th place tie with Jesuit's John Kaplan.
Senior David Green was the lone 'Cats sprinter to qualify for regions and ended up finishing his very busy and successful high school sports career with a 5th place finish (22.11) in the boys 200M.
Finally, in a highly competitive 1600M field, senior Meron Fessahaie ran 4:20 which was good for yet another 5th place finish for the 'Cats.
Congrats to all the regional qualifiers!
GO 'CATS!
