‘Cats Tracksters win LH Invitational
Senior James Bearden won gold in the High Jump with a leap of 6'-6''.
With the help of over 20 dedicated Wildcat volunteers, the 'Cats hosted the LH Invitational at Eagle/Mustang Stadium on Friday and the boys team took home the title, while the girls finished 6th.

Despite a stiff head wind down the front straightaway, several 'Cats took home gold.

Leading the way for the girls was the future UNT duo of Curry Young & Paige McCutcheson. Curry won the 100M (12:16) and 200M (25.28) while McCutcheson took silver in the 100M with a time of 12.20. McCutcheson then completely blew away the 400M field with a time of 58.25, which was nearly 5 seconds faster than the 2nd place finisher from Wylie.

On the boys side, for Senior Ronnie Jordan it was business as usual, as he took home double gold by winning the 110M hurdles (14.56) & 300M hurdles (40.04). Jordan's win in the 300M provided the 10 points that the 'Cats needed to take the lead in the team standings.

Junior distance man, Meron Fessahaie, won the 3200M by nearly 30 seconds with a time of 9:46. Juan Sanchez of Plano beat Meron in the 1600M, but he did so by running a 4:21 which is a new meet record. Meron finished 2nd with a time of 4:25. Senior Nathan Hogg finished 4th in the race with a time of 4:43.

Junior David Green won the 200M with at time of 22.68 and also scored points for the 'Cats in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, with 4th place finishes in each. Senior Leith Waithe finished 3rd in the 400M with a time of 51.02.

The boys 4x200M relay finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:31.03 and took 3rd in the 4x400M relay with a time of 3:26.01. The 4x400M relay was a great race with the top 3 teams separated by less than one second.

Senior James Bearden won gold in the high jump and was just 2 inches shy of a meet record with a winning jump of 6', 6''.

Fresh off winning a gold medal a the state wrestling tournament, Senior Isaac Grieder needed only a couple days of practice and notched another gold medal in the pole vault. In doing so, he broke a meet record with a vault of 14', 02'' which was nearly 2 feet higher than 2nd place.

In the Shot Put, Senior Kosi Ekwu finished in 2nd place with a throw of 33', 04'' while on the boys side, Junior Zack Knickman also won silver with a throw of 51', 10.5''.

The boys team won the event with a tally of 132 points, 18 points better than Wylie who finished 2nd.
