Day two of the Regional II Golf Tournament in Waco wrapped up last Friday with the Wildcats finishing in 11th place overall.
While no 'Cats advanced to the state tournament, Head Coach Christopher Cole was pleased with his team's performance.
"We played well and had a chance to go low but just didn't get it done," Cole said. "For most of the players, this was the first time they've ever played in front of a gallery so the experience is great to have looking out to next year."
District 9-5A champ, senior Randy Appling, was the low scorer for the 'Cats. As a team, the 11th place finish was the best finish of any Area qualifier.
Individual two-day total scores from the Regional tournament for the 'Cats were as follows:
Randy Appling (Sr): 157 total (77/80)
Bobby Ladtkow (Jr): 159 total (79/80
Stephen Allen (Soph): 160 total (80/80)
Kyle Kennedy (Frosh): 165 total (84/81)
Taylor Wharton (Soph): 173 total (84/89)
David Green (Jr): 2nd day score - 84
Team total was 643.
Coach Cole is excited about the potential his team given all but one of his players from this year's squad will return next year.
"You really can't beat this experience for these guys. It should pay off next year, especially with a team like Jesuit in our district," Cole said. "Nobody is going to give us anything though. This experience won't mean much if they put down the clubs this summer. If they stay focused and work hard, we'll be in great shape for next year. I'm confident they will."
Congrats to the 'Cats golf team on a great season!
