The annual Red/White Spring game was held this past Saturday and went about as well as any spring game usually goes.
Down 6-7 with just over a minute remaining in the game, the Red team won the game 13-7 off a 45 yard touchdown pass by senior-to-be running back, Desmond Roland. On the play, Roland rolled to his right out of the Wildcat formation and hit Michael Wright for the game winning touchdown.
There was the issue of the clock mysteriously running out after the winning touchdown. With the 'Cats baseball team finishing up their big win over Rowlett, perhaps the clock operator (no names will be given!) was busy trying to look at the baseball scoreboard with his binoculars? Either way, however you look at it, 'Cats won the game.
Coach Smith's squad will continue spring training through the month of May. In late June, the 'Cats will compete in several 7-on-7 games at Plano West HS. Of course, August brings on the grind of two-a-days with the first and only scrimmage of the preseason going off at the Boneyard on Aug 20th.
In case you've missed the news, LH Today will be broadcasting all the Wildcat football games live this fall. We're real excited to have Chip Waggoner and David Hardt in the booth calling all the action.
Besides the live streaming audio feed, our broadcast will also include a customized game tracker with live stats and a chat feature which will enable our listeners to chime in on the action.
GO 'CATS!
