LH Young Life plant sale underway
Flowers help get kids to camp
Summer is nearing, and so begins the process of researching all the summer camps and program options out there.

For some local teens, the cost associated with attending a summer camp can be cost prohibitive.

The group from Lake Highlands Young Life is working to address that problem, and they've come up with an easy way for people to help.

All it involves is buying spring flowers!

The LH Young Life Spring Plant Sale is currently underway, and any purchase made between now and April 1st will go toward helping these kids get to camp.

"We hope to take more kids than ever before to our WyldLife and Young Life camps this summer," says Michelle Russell, who's on staff with the Young Life group.

"Junior high kids will go to the WyldLife Camp in the Texas Hill Country, while our high school kids will head to the Frontier Ranch in Buena Vista, Colorado."

"It's a week full of adventure - with activities like the ropes course, rappelling, the blob, zip lines, horseback riding, sand volleyball and more."

Michelle says these kids walk away from their experience every year saying, "That was the best week of my life!"

She and the Young Life staff don't want money to stand in the way of providing as many kids as possible with an opportunity to experience these camps.

"We would love to send over 200 kids to camp this summer, and we hope to send more of our lower-income urban kids than ever before."

For those interested, there are two ways to offer your help.

Buy flowers (you can view the order form here) and pass along the information. Share the form with family, friends and neighbors who might be interested in filling up their flower beds, too.

The only catch? Those orders, along with your payment, have to be in by next Thursday - April 1st is a firm deadline.

Flower pick-up will take place on Saturday, April 10th at 10:00 a.m. at North Highlands Bible Church here in Lake Highlands.

The church is located at 9626 Church Road.

For more information about the sale or other Young Life program questions you can contact Michelle Russell at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 214.505.5216.

Watch for more opportunities to help in the coming months, including a car wash the group has planned for late spring or early summer.

Stay tuned, LH Today will keep you updated.
