LHUMC hosts youth at Sports Camp
Campers pose for a group shot on their final day
Summer is drawing to a close.

So, sports campers at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church got in one last week of fun before school begins next week.

Led by LHUMC youth group volunteers, a group of 25 boys and girls spent Monday through Thursday enjoying friendship and fellowship in a sports-filled environment.

Whether playing basketball, dodgeball or indoor soccer, all the campers had a great time.

One highlight for campers came Wednesday, when LHHS cheerleaders Madison Barnes and Tori Cronin visited and taught all the girls popular football game cheer routines.

The week's activities culminated on Thursday with an off-site field trip to Lake Highlands very own Pump It Up!

Debbie Davis, Director of Youth Ministries for LHUMC enjoyed spending the week with her son Chase, who along with Kelvin Bredehoeft and Patrick Thornton served as head coaches for the sports camp.

"It's a real treat to see all the young ones have such a good time with our older youth group members," says Davis. "We witnessed so many great examples of sportsmanship throughout the week."

While summer is officially coming to a close, Lake Highlands United Methodist has numerous children's activities in store for the school year, including its popular children's choir program, which begins practice the first week of September.

Davis made a point to make sure that everyone knows they are welcome at all church activities. "We would love to see some new faces when the Wednesday Night Live program starts back up next month," she says.
