Enjoying all things Easter!
The weather was perfect, and for the Murdock family, spreading the word was the order of the day.
Saturday, April 3rd, Cindy and her husband Chris Murdock opened their home to friends, family and neighbors for their annual egg hunt and sharing of the Easter story.
The Murdocks, together with children Emilie, Elise and Jake, hosted over forty guests in honor of the holiday.
It's a long-held tradition that the family enjoys.
"Years we've been doing this, with maybe one short break," said Cindy. "We love having the kids here."
Among the guests were Donjalea and David Chrane, who lead the staff at Lake Highlands Church located on McCree Road, along with a great bunch of kids from the church's youth group.
Following cookie decorating and a few laps around the tree house, it was the teens who gathered everyone together for the telling of the Easter story and to lead the group in song.
And then the hunt was on!
Three yards in the Lake Ridge Estates North neighborhood combined to offer age-appropriate egg hunting zones.
Manners were another important reminder of the day.
"If you find yourselves landing near the same egg as someone else," said Cindy, "let's use that as an opportunity to share and offer your friend that egg in honor of Easter."
There was still the expected mad scramble out the front door, but lots of eggs and extra kindness made this Easter egg hunt a resounding success.
The morning concluded with a Resurrection balloon release as the youth group gathered on the front porch to join in more song.
With baskets overflowing, guests wrapped up the festivities around lunchtime, heading off into the day filled with sweet treats and sweeter remembrance.
Hope you enjoyed your Easter, Lake Highlands. Blessings always to our great community!
